Command Master Chief, first referenced in OPNAVINST 1306.2C, was a program created to strengthen communication across the chain of command and uphold the highest standards of professionalism throughout the fleet.

In July of 2015, Command Senior Chief was formally established after several years of Senior Chiefs filling CMC and COB billets throughout the fleet.
